Breaking: Jets sign CB Stephens

The Jets have made another move:

Stephens, who starts on the outside but has also played safety, was a starter for the Ravens these past two years. He played well in 2023 but had career-worst numbers for missed tackles, touchdowns allowed in coverage and penalties in 2024.

In the context of the one year older DJ Reed signing for $18 million per year earlier today, this will hopefully be a more affordable move that enables the Jets to extend Sauce Gardner at some point over the next 12 months.

The 27-year old has good size and athletic ability, having run a 4.44 at the combine a few years ago. He will give new head coach Aaron Glenn an interesting player to work with as he enters his prime.
