Breaking: Jets sign veteran RB Frank Gore

The Jets look to be making a move:

The Jets obviously felt it would be useful to have an experienced running back in the fold with free agents Ty Montgomery and Bilal Powell not expected to return.

They don't come much more experienced than Gore, who has gained more rushing yards than anyone in NFL history apart from Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton.

The 36-year old is obviously past his prime, as he last had a thousand-yard season in 2016 and averaged a career-worst 3.6 yards per carry in 2019. He still racked up almost 700 yards from scrimmage, including a 100-yard game against New England, though. He needs 3,009 yards to become the NFL's all-time leading rusher.

Gore will presumably compete with the likes of Trenton Cannon and Lamical Perine for a rotational role behind Le'Veon Bell.
