Buzz: Jets exploring trade market for Matt Forté

Here's an interesting rumor:

#Jets have gauged trade market for RB Matt Forte, who’s healthy now, per sources. But it’d be very tough to move his $4M guaranteed salary.

The past tense in this tweet is perhaps a sign that this ship has already sailed. As noted, Forté has a guaranteed salary this year, so is unlikely to be released, although the Jets have the cap space to potentially eat some of that in a pre-trade bonus if it brings back an asset.

Forté actually looked pretty sharp in the last game and, while he seems surplus to requirements for this year, he might actually be a valuable asset next season with a salary of just $3 million.

You have to wonder wonder if they've looked into trading him as a courtesy to the player himself.
