Camp Recap: Day 23 - 8/20/2018

The Jets were on the field for practice this afternoon. There are just two practices left after today and then they will break camp. Here were some of the main things that happened, as reported by media on site:

  • This was a "cards practice" which means the offense spent a lot of time working on situational stuff against the scout team;
  • Kevin Pierre-Louis, Cairo Santos, Xavier Coleman, Trenton Cannon, Steve McLendon and Jeremy Clark were not in pads;
  • Parry Nickerson returned to practice and Isaiah Crowell is no longer in the concussion protocol;
  • Brian Winters and Kelvin Beachum participated in team drills, although Beachum was limited;
  • Trumaine Johnson took part in team drills but was limited;
  • Every quarterback got first-team reps, but Josh McCown was in first and Sam Darnold got the most;
  • Nathan Shepherd had a sack in team periods;
  • Teddy Bridgewater impressed with a downfield completion to Quincy Enunwa and a 45-yard touchdown to Tre McBride;
  • A frustrated Rashard Robinson, who has been trash-talking all week, punted the ball 40 yards after intercepting a pass in a drill;
  • Chris Herndon made a nice leaping catch and a back shoulder catch in team periods;
  • Jordan Leggett and Neal Sterling had catches from Sam Darnold on his first drive in the final team periods;
  • Bridgewater was almost intercepted by Buster Skrine and Darron Lee on consecutive plays but hit Atkinson on a deep ball. Atkinson got behind Neville Hewitt on the play;
  • Darnold hit Sterling and Enunwa with good timing on the next series and then Sterling had another catch from Bridgewater;
  • Chad Hansen had a good day, highlighted by a diving catch on a deep ball against Johnson; and
  • After practice, Todd Bowles talked up Jeremy Bates and how well he's working with the offensive personnel.
