Camp Recap: Day One

The Jets were on the field today for their first practice. Here were some of the things that happened:

The practice was conducted inside due to thunderstorms;
Quarterback Sam Darnold was not present, as he still hasn't finalized his rookie contract;
Rontez Miles and Courtney Upshaw did not participate. Miles has been placed on the PUP list as expected and Upshaw is now on the non-football injury list;
The likes of Quincy Enunwa, Terrelle Pryor and Marcus Maye did practice but sat out most of the team activities;
Elijah McGuire limped off the field during practice;
Josh McCown received the most first team reps and reportedly looked good today, outperforming Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater did close out practice with a long completion to ArDarius Stewart though;
Others that flashed included Morris Claiborne, Bucky Hodges and Charles Johnson;
Rookie running back Trenton Cannon continues to struggle as a punt returner but did showcase some good speed as a runner;
Players receiving first team reps included Josh Martin, Henry Anderson, Nathan Shepherd, Doug Middleton, Jordan Leggett and Tre McBride; and
After practice Todd Bowles said that Darnold's absence is part of the business and that he'll catch him up once he arrives.
