Countdown to Camp: 21

As we look ahead to training camp in late July, we're taking a daily retrospective look back at some random people, moments and games from Jets history...

The Current 21

Cornerback Morris Claiborne played well in the first half of last season but, true to form, wasn't as good over the second half as he was playing hurt much of the time. He'll hopefully benefit greatly from now no longer having to cover the other team's best receiver.

The Greatest

Safety Victor Green was a defensive leader for nine years, during which he had seven sacks and 24 interceptions. He also racked up a ton of tackles including over 200 one year, at which time many felt he should have been a pro bowler.

The other 21's

Clark Gaines, LaDainian Tomlinson, Steve Tannen...

The 1997 season was a rare winning season for the Jets, but they blew a chance to make the playoffs by losing their season finale in Detroit and ended up 9-7. We detailed that earlier in our countdown, here.

21 on the scoreboard

A memorable win from 2001 saw the Jets come from 17-0 down at the half to beat Miami. Two touchdowns in 28 seconds got the Jets back into the game in the third quarter and then Laveranues Coles caught his second touchdown pass of the game to win it.

Let us know if there's any connections to 21 that we missed...
