Countdown to Camp: 57

As we look ahead to training camp in late July, we're going to take a daily retrospective look back at some random people, moments and games from Jets history...

The Current 57

Obum Gwacham has some pass rushing potential but we haven't seen much of him so far. It will be interesting to see if he is in the mix for playing time in training camp.

The Greatest

Mo Lewis can lay claim to being the greatest linebacker in Jets history. Over 13 seasons, Lewis recorded over a thousand tackles, 52.5 sacks, 14 interceptions and 26 forced fumbles.

Lewis also scored five career touchdowns as a Jet but will always be remembered for this:

The other 57's

The 1961 season saw the then-Titans finish 7-7 for the second straight year. We detailed that earlier in our countdown, here.

57 yards and into the record books

Chandler Catanzaro broke the Jets' all-time record last season with a 57-yard field goal. It wasn't enough for him to return to the team in 2018, but his probable replacement Cairo Santos once kicked an even longer one in preseason.

Also from last year, here's Bilal Powell's 57-yard touchdown run against the Chargers:
