Countdown to the draft: 6 days to go

The 2022 draft is almost here and we're counting down the days...

With the 6th pick

The Jets have picked sixth on six different occasions with three of these players - Jamal Adams, Leonard Williams and John Riggins - doing well with the Jets but moving onto another team early on in their career.

Defensive linemen Vernon Gholston and Carl Barzilauskas are regarded as busts, although injuries were mostly to blame for this in the case of the latter.

The sixth pick who lasted the longest was quarterback Richard Todd, who took the Jets to the playoffs twice in eight seasons.

Six years ago

The 2016 draft was another letdown for the Jets as the first two picks - Darron Lee and Christian Hackenberg - couldn't have gone much worse. Four of the later picks - Jordan Jenkins, Lac Edwards, Juston Burris and Brandon Shell - are still in the league, albeit on other teams.

In the 6th round

The Jets have picked plenty of great players in the sixth round over the years, including Emerson Boozer, Ralph Baker and Richie Anderson. However, the greatest sixth round pick in team history is obviously defensive lineman Joe Klecko.

Number 6s in the draft

The Jets moved up and selected Mark Sanchez in 2009 and he "led them" to consecutive AFC title games. Over the next few years, he regressed despite a controversial contract extension and, having left the Jets, failed to establish himself with three NFC East teams.
