Countdown to the draft: 9 days to go

The 2022 draft is almost here and we're counting down the days...

With the 9th pick

The best number nine pick in team history was Jerome Barkum, who was a Jet for 12 years, playing both at wide receiver and tight end. He went to one pro bowl and is fourth in team history for touchdown receptions.

The Jets also picked Kyle Brady with the ninth overall pick in 1995. He was a solid blocker for four seasons but they will always regret passing on hall of famer Warren Sapp to select him.

The only other ninth pick in team history, cornerback Dee Milliner, was a big disappointment.

Nine years ago

The 2013 draft saw the Jets with two first rounders after having traded Darrelle Revis. The ninth overall pick was Milliner, whose career was derailed by injuries. Sheldon Richardson was a solid pick at 13, though. From this draft, Geno Smith and Oday Aboushi are still in the league.

In the 9th round

The Jets picked up contributors like Rocky Klever, Nuu Faaola and Tom Baldwin with ninth round picks in the eighties, but their best every ninth-rounder was probably Bobby Humphrey. In six years as a Jet, Humphrey played both at wide receiver and cornerback but did his best work as a return man. He led the league in return average in his rookie season.

Number 9s in the draft

The best number 9 in team history was kicker John Hall, but the Jets got him as an undrafted free agent. They did draft Bryce Petty in the fourth round in 2016 though, although he's out of the league already.
