Day one OTAs - What the coordinators had to say

After today's practice, each of the coordinators spoke to the media. Here were some of the key points.

Defensive co-ordinator Kacy Rodgers:

  • The Jets were excited that Jamal Adams fell to them in the draft.
  • Sheldon Richardson will play defensive tackle this year.
  • The Jets feel Juston Burris and Darryl Roberts should have played more last year, which probably just means that Darrelle Revis should have played less.

Offensive co-ordinator John Morton:

  • While he didn't today, the Jets plan is for Christian Hackenberg to get reps with the first-team offense.
  • He plans to call plays from the booth during the season.
  • He was candid about his offensive philosophy, saying only that it would be "competitive" and vary based on their opponent.

Special teams co-ordinator Brant Boyer:

  • He praised punter Lac Edwards for his hard work and said he expects an improvement from him this year.
  • The kicking battle (between Ross Martin and Chandler Catanzaro) is "wide open".
  • He plans to be more aggressive this year.

Those were the main takeaways from today. We'll update you on anything else players/coaches tell the media soon.
