Ex-Jets in the CFL: Week 1 update/highlights

The Canadian Football League got under was over the weekend with a trio of games and six of the league's nine teams in action.

Some ex-Jets players made significant contributions, including kicker Sergio Castillo who gave Winnipeg the win over Calgary.

The biggest contributor, though, and ranking third in the CFL's player of the week voting, was defensive lineman Jake Ceresna, who had just one sack last year after racking up 30 in the previous three seasons. He made that look like a blip in the opener, with three sacks.

Earlier on in that same game, another ex-Jet - wide receiver Tim White - had scored a touchdown in his first game with the Blue Bombers.

His fellow ex-Jets receiver Pokey Wilson also contributed 52 yards on two catches.

In Edmonton's win over Ottawa, wide receiver TJ Luther was making his CFL debut and he came up big with five catches for 65 yards including this spectacular grab.

Finally, Montreal beat Hamilton 30-27 behind three tackles from former Jets starting fullback Julian Howsare.

We'll provide more updates later in the season...
