GM search: Interviews to get underway this week

According to Albert Breer's latest article, the Jets' general manager search will pick up over the next few days.

The Jets’ GM search will rev up this week. I’m told it remains unclear if Minnesota exec George Paton will accept the interview, but both Chicago’s Champ Kelly and Seattle’s Scott Fitterer are going to meet with the Jets. Fitterer’s interview is set for Thursday and Friday in New Jersey.

Breer noted earlier that the Jets have not yet reached out to two potential candidates, Adam Peters and Lance Newmark, each of whom has ties to Jets head coach and temporary general manager Adam Gase.

Peters - the 49ers vice president of player personnel - was at the Broncos in a scouting role throughout Gase's six years on Denver's coaching staff, while Newmark - Detroit's director of player personnel - was also in a scouting role with the Lions as Gase spent the first five years of his NFL coaching career there.

We'll keep you updated with developments during the week.
