How the hell am I supposed to know who this is? - Darron Lee

In a new occasional feature, we're going to briefly highlight any of the lesser-known players that make an impact at camp. Today, we focus on Darron Lee.

What he did:

After some uneven play so far in preseason (seven tackles in two games), the 23-year old stepped up with a big play in practice yesterday:

Where he came from:

Lee was the 20th overall pick in the 2016 draft and started 24 games over the past two seasons for the Jets, racking up 167 tackles, four sacks, six passes defensed and two forced fumbles. He played 1,025 defensive snaps last year, which was fourth on the team.

Outlook:

Lee is going to start and remains likely to play an every-snap role in 2018. Head coach Todd Bowles has discussed the fact he'll have more responsibilities in terms of calling the defense, although it's curious that Avery Williamson was wearing the headset on Thursday night. Lee needs a good 2018 to secure himself the fifth-year option on his rookie deal after the season.

Obviously, even including Lee in this series is somewhat facetious, but he's a player who needs to start living up to his potential. His statistical production was better last year and any signs of playmaking in camp or preseason should be welcomed, especially in light of some of the communication issues during the first two preseason games.
