How the hell am I supposed to know who this is? - Kevin Pierre-Louis

The Jets activated linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis from the suspended list yesterday. Pierre-Louis missed all of preseason and most of training camp, but is apparently healthy now as he rejoins the team. What can we expect from him?

Outlook:

Pierre-Louis' main calling card is his tremendous athleticism, which is an asset in coverage and on special teams. There was speculation earlier in the offseason that the Jets had a role earmarked for him as a coverage linebacker.

In preseason, Avery Williamson played a three-down role, but he was at his most effective last year when he came off the field in passing situations. That happened a few times on Monday night with JJ Wilcox getting into the game for some nickel packages, but Pierre-Louis might be someone who could take over from Wilcox in those packages and maybe even take over some of Williamson's other subpackage reps eventually.

Pierre-Louis also adds depth to a unit that only has Neville Hewitt listed as a reserve at inside linebacker, although both Frankie Luvu and Brandon Copeland have played inside linebacker in the past few years.
