Injury news: Mauldin could need season ending surgery

Todd Bowles updated reporters today on the status of Lorenzo Mauldin, who is on injured reserve but eligible to return. Apparently Mauldin has been suffering with a herniated disc in his back since 2015 and is seeking a second opinion after it worsened recently. He may need surgery that would end his season.

Mauldin will enter the final year of his rookie deal next season.

In terms of the active roster, back-up center Jonotthan Harrison suffered a concussion in practice yesterday and is most likely out for Sunday. Dakota Dozier would back up Wesley Johnson.

Bowles said that Rontez Miles is also probably out but that the status of Bruce Carter, Eric Tomlinson and Jordan Leggett is still yet to be determined.
