Injury News: Miles and Leggett confirmed as OUT for Sunday

Todd Bowles today confirmed that, as expected, safety Rontez Miles and tight end Jordan Leggett will not play in Sunday's season opener against the Bills.

At tight end, Eric Tomlinson is expected to start with Austin Seferian-Jenkins also sidelined due to suspension. Tomlinson started five games last year but did not catch a pass. He'll be backed up by newcomers Will Tye and Neal Sterling.

At safety, the Jets have just one healthy safety behind their two rookie starters - the recently acquired Terrence Brooks. Bowles said today that there are other defensive backs who can play safety but declined to name them for strategic reasons.

Marcus Williams played safety in two games during the 2015 season, but his poor tackling was exploited as he missed a total of 10 tackles including a couple that led to long touchdowns.
