Jets coaching search: The calm before the storm?

The latest coaching search news from the last 24 hours...

Things seemed to have slowed down over the last 24 hours as the Jets start interviewing candidates for their vacant head coaching position. They are interviewing Adam Gase today, having already completed an interview with Eric Bieniemy. Kris Richard is apparently going to interview on Sunday, while Todd Monken - who is also interviewing with the Bengals - hasn't firmed up any dates yet.

The Jets definitely intend to interview Mike McCarthy but it sounds like that might be a week or so away. The Browns had planned to interview him this week, but they've delayed it until next week for the time being. Jim Caldwell, on the other hand, has completed interviews with the Browns, Packers and Cardinals so if the Jets interview him as expected it could be soon.

Kliff Kingsbury, who is also expected to interview, also has nothing set in stone as yet. He is also interviewing with the Cardinals.

Otherwise, no new names seem to have emerged, so perhaps the search isn't as widespread as was first assumed. For example, Manish Mehta previously suggested we should "keep an eye on" Matt Rhule but seems to have downgraded that to "the Jets would be smart to consider" him since then.

We'll keep you posted with any further updates.
