Jets mandatory minicamp practice recap: 6/10/25
Media were on hand for the Jets' minicamp practice today. Here's what went down according to those on hand:
- In heavy rain, every player was in attendance, including both Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson, who are each seeking a contract extension, and Micheal Clemons, who missed some recent non-mandatory OTAs;
- Arian Smith and Jermaine Johnson were among those in the rehab area and Malachi Corley was working with trainers. Smith did practice in the end;
- The Jets began practice with a drive the field drill that began with a Justin Fields to Wilson downfield connection with Brandon Stephens covering;
- Wilson had three catches on the first series, including a short catch with Gardner in tight coverage, with Fields getting the ball out quickly and also picking up good yardage on a run. However, the "drive" stalled in the red zone and Anders Carlson kicked a field goal;
- Will McDonald had a sack and Rashad Weaver had a pressure on the drive, as Fields had two incompletions - one caused by good coverage by Deuce Carter and the other batted down at the line;
- Joe Tippmann had a bad snap on the drive;
- Isaiah Oliver made a good play on a deep ball;
- Brady Cook had a couple of good throws but misfired a few times over the middle with Jaylin Simpson coming down with an interception;
- Donovan Edwards had a bad drop;
- On a two-minute drill, Fields missed an open Wilson but then converted on a good gain to Josh Reynolds;
- Quincy Williams and Byron Cowart both had disciplined plays where they prevented the quarterback from escaping the pocket to scramble for positive yardage;
- After a Quinnen Williams sack and a Gardner pass breakup on Allen Lazard, the offense settled for a long field goal which Carlson made; and
- Tyrod Taylor was unable to drive into field goal range on his drive, which featured good coverage from Oliver, Azareye'h Thomas and Qwan'tez Stiggers.
