Jets Mandatory Minicamp Practice Recap - 6/16/26
Media were on hand for the Jets' minicamp practice today. Here's what went down according to those on hand:
- Cade Klubnik, who had back spasms last week, did not practice but may do so tomorrow or on Thursday according to Aaron Glenn;
- Before practice, news broke that Darrell Jackson Jr. signed his rookie deal, completing the Jets' 2026 class;
- Mason Taylor kicked of 7-on-7's in the red zone with a touchdown;
- AD Mitchell had a leaping, toe-tapping catch at the back of the end zone from Geno Smith;
- Nahshon Wright and Tre Brown each broke up a pass. Wright's break-up came on a pass intended for undrafted rookie Chase Curtis who got some first-team reps;
- Smith and Garrett Wilson were not on the same page on a Wilson drop, but did connect earlier over the middle, although Wilson would have been stopped at the goal line;
- In a two-minute drill in 11-on-11's, Smith found Taylor, Wilson, Omar Cooper and Isaiah Williams but had a pass broken up by Minkah Fitzpatrick and had to throw one away under pressure;
- The drive ended on 3rd-and-10 when Wilson beat Brandon Stephens but Smith underthrew it and Stephens battled back into the play to break it up;
- Bailey Zappe had a successful two-minute drill that ended with a 42-yard Jason Sanders field goal. He was 6-for-8 on the drive;
- Arian Smith had a 4th-and-3 conversion to keep the drive alive; and
- On field goals, Cade York missed two 56-yarders, with one hitting the post, and hit one. Jason Sanders hit from 56 and 50, but missed from 50.
