Jets Mandatory Minicamp Practice Recap - 6/17/26

Media were on hand for the Jets' minicamp practice today. Here's what went down according to those on hand:

  • AD Mitchell, who had been playing well, was not in attendance;
  • Cade Klubnik, who is dealing with back spasms, was in uniform and on the field but not participating in drills;
  • In 7-on-7's Geno Smith opened with a completion to Breece Hall, one over the middle to Mason Taylor and a 25-yard downfield connection to a leaping Garrett Wilson, who beat Nahshon Wright;
  • Smith also connected on a short pass to Omar Cooper with Brandon Stephens covering, then looked for him again downfield but that one was incomplete with Wright in tight coverage;
  • D'Angelo Ponds had a pick six against Bailey Zappe, but was called for pass interference on the intended receiver, Arian Smith, on the play;
  • Brady Cook struggled once again;
  • In the two minute drill with 11-on-11, Smith opened with a 34-yard connection to Wilson, who beat Stephens deep;
  • From the four-yard line, Jamien Sherwood broke up a pass, Mason Taylor dropped a potential touchdown, and then Andre Cisco intercepted Smith as the drive stalled. Joseph Ossai and David Onyemata put Smith under pressure on the interception and one of them may have had a sack; and
  • With the backups in, Qwan'tez Stiggers jumped a route but dropped a possible interception.
