Jets OTA practice recap - 5/28/26

Media were on hand for the Jets' OTA practice today. Here's what went down according to those on hand:

  • Cade York and Keynon Sadiq did not participate due to injury. York will miss this week due to a groin issue, while Sadiq had a hernia procedure and it sounds like he'll be out until training camp;
  • Joe Tippmann was not in attendance, although it was confirmed that he was in attendance yesterday;
  • In windy conditions, Geno Smith opened with a completion to Isaiah Williams in 7-on-7 but his third pass was almost a turnover as Nahshon Wright dropped a potential interception;
  • Bailey Zappe got the second unit reps and completed three of his four passes, including a nice throw to Jelani Woods. However, Marcelino McCrary-Ball got his hands on the lone incompletion;
  • Cade Klubnik went 4-for-4 with the third unit, all on dump-offs;
  • On the first set of 11-on-11s, Braelon Allen bounced a nice run outside with the first unit, then had another good run with the backups;
  • Klubnik's best throw of the day came on his first 11-on-11 series as he threw down the middle to UDFA Malik McClain;
  • Brandon Stephens had good coverage on a deep incompletion from Smith to Garrett Wilson, while Jarvis Brownlee also played well;
  • Smith hit Adonai Mitchell for 30 on a deep ball for the biggest completion of the day;
  • Klubnik's final series in 7-on-7 saw him go 4-for-4 again, all on short passes to Woods twice, Mason Taylor and Jeremy Ruckert; and
  • On field goals, new signing Younghoe Koo made all three of his attempts but Lenny Krieg missed two of four with one hitting the upright.
