Jets Training Camp Practice - 8/13/25 (Joint Practice with the Giants)

Media were in attendance today for the Jets' joint practice with the New York Giants. Here's what went down according to those on hand:

  • Having been in uniform yesterday, Jermaine Johnson was back in street clothes;
  • Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams did not practice, but Brady Cook did despite an ankle injury yesterday;
  • Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo and Jermaine Eluemunor did not practice again for the Giants but Dru Phillips, Evan Neal and Jalin Hyatt returned;
  • Team drills began with a Justin Fields pass to Andrew Beck and a run stuff as Kayvon Thibodeaux beat Olu Fashanu, but then Fields scored a long touchdown on an option keeper;
  • After two runs, the Giants gave up a sack to Jay Tufele on 3rd-and-2 but a defensive hold kept the drive going and Russell Wilson hit Wan'Dale Robinson on the next play;
  • Brandon Smith, who was getting first team reps later on, had a leaping catch on an Adrian Martinez jump ball;
  • The Jets had a three-and-out with Jeremy Ruckert giving up one of two sacks;
  • Arian Smith had a leaping deep catch from Martinez as well;
  • Thing started to get a bit chippy in the trenches halfway through;
  • Jaxson Dart threw a deep touchdown pass on a blown coverage by the Jets' secondary;
  • Martinez missed a throw to a wide open Kene Nwangwu;
  • Braiden McGregor had a sack of Dart as he looked to roll out;
  • A Jets series of five had three runs and a quick slant from Fields to Garrett Wilson before an incompletion to Wilson;
  • Nick Folk made all six of his field goal attempts, including a 55-yarder;
  • Braelon Allen was untouched on a 25-yard touchdown run in team drills;
  • Russell Wilson ran for a 15-yard touchdown as Micheal Clemons lost contain and then threw a two-yard touchdown, Dart then ran for one;
  • Brian Burns had a strong day with four sacks of Fields;
  • Brandon Smith had a couple more catches, one in the flat and one over the middle, but not much else was working;
  • Brandon Stephens broke up a pass at the pylon;
  • Boog Smith forced a fumble in a kick return drill;
  • A Giants two-minute drill failed to get closer than the Jets' 43 and the long field goal from 60 missed, with Jamien Sherwood leading the defensive effort; and
  • The Jets' own two-minute drill stalled but Fields did complete passes to Tyler Johnson, Ruckert and Brandon Smith (for a first down).

Note: The next camp practice for the Jets will be on Sunday afternoon; the day after the game. This is being called a "vets practice" suggesting they will use it for anyone who sits out Saturday's game.
