Jets Training Camp Practice Recap - 7/25/25
Media and fans were in attendance today for the Jets' practice. Here's what went down according to those on hand:
- Following his toe injury yesterday, starting quarterback Justin Fields was in attendance and in uniform but did not participate. He is day-to-day and Aaron Glenn said after practice that the Jets won't rush him back;
- Tyrod Taylor opened the team sessions as the first team quarterback, as expected, and hit on a touch pass to Jeremy Ruckert on his first throw under pressure from a blitzing Tony Adams;
- Azareye'h Thomas was in good position on a downfield incompletion intended for Xavier Gipson;
- Quincy Williams broke up a pass intended for Breece Hall;
- Isaiah Davis had a nice run and a good play on a screen from Taylor;
- The punters struggled but Jamaal Pritchett looked good on returns;
- 7-on-7's began with a coverage sack but then Mason Taylor had a diving touchdown from Tyrod, albeit with pressure in the quarterback's face again;
- Gipson caught a touchdown from Adrian Martinez in 7-on-7's on a contested catch;
- Malachi Corley also had a touchdown from Brady Cook, showing good concentration on a tipped pass that was behind him. Cook also threw a touchdown to Dymere Miller. This was presumably all in a red zone session;
- Other reserves to catch touchdowns: Pritchett, Quentin Skinner, Gipson.
- Pritchett and Braelon Allen each had a drop;
- Will McDonald beat Armand Membou for a sack but Membou atoned with a block on McDonald to spring Hall for a touchdown;
- Phidarian Mathis deflected a pass at the line;
- Taylor-to-Taylor struck again as Tyrod hit Mason for a red zone touchdown. However, Andre Cisco intervened with a pass break-up as the pair tried to connect again and then had an an interception; and
- In a two-minute drill to finish practice, the Jets had three incompletions to start the drive (although one was a penalty) before three straight catches by Garrett Wilson got them close to the goal line but then Cisco had another interception of Taylor in the end zone.
Note: The Jets are scheduled to focus on third down and sub-packages tomorrow, along with more two-minute work, but will not be in pads until Monday. Sunday is a day off. We'll see how closely they stick to the schedule.
