Jets Training Camp Practice Recap - 8/19/25
Media were in attendance today for the Jets' practice. Here's what went down according to those on hand:
- Sauce Gardner, Quinnen Williams and Jermaine Johnson all returned to practice. Gardner didn't do individual drills, but did do the team session;
- Azareye'h Thomas also returned;
- In 1-on-1's Garrett Wilson and Josh Reynolds each had a catch after a slow start for the offense, then Wilson lost Qwan'tez Stiggers for another catch;
- Also in 1-on-1 work Quentin Skinner caught a jump ball down the field against Jarius Monroe and Justin Fields completed a deep ball to Arian Smith, who beat Mario Goodrich;
- In 11-on-11 Fields opened up with a run and a short completion to Mason Taylor;
- Smith had another big play on a catch and run as Brady Cook hit him on a crosser;
- Goal line drills opened with a Fields touchdown pass to Andrew Beck;
- Fields then connected with a deep ball to Wilson in 11-on-11 action as he beat Brandon Stephens and Andre Cisco, although he misfired to Wilson on his next throw;
- Fields was 4-for-4 in the next set of 11-on-11's with quick completions to Wilson, Reynolds, Tyler Johnson and Jeremy Ruckert;
- Fields opened up 8-for-11 with one of the incompletions being a Breece Hall drop. Hall would later drop two more passes;
- Smith had another big play, down the seam from Adrian
GonzalezMartinez; - In 7-on-7, Fields went 4-for-5 including a touchdown on a leaping Wilson catch;
- Gardner limped off again, after breaking up a pass from Fields to Reynolds in the end zone but didn't seem seriously hurt;
- In a two-minute drill, Will McDonald had a sack (beating Olu Fashanu) and Micheal Clemons forced an incompletion with pressure. There was also a false start, so the Jets had to punt despite a completion from Fields to Taylor;
- The second unit fared better with Cook finding Quentin Skinner for a long touchdown; and
- Another drive for Fields ended in a turnover on downs as (Jermaine) Johnson had a sack and there was also a holding penalty. Fields did completed a 20-yard pass to Wilson and a shorter one to (Tyler) Johnson, though.
Note: The Jets practice again tomorrow at 12:45pm ET, where the plan is to work on four minute offense and third down packages. Thursday is a walkthrough with no media ahead of Friday night's game.
