Jets Training Camp Practice Recap - 8/4/25

Media were in attendance today for the Jets' practice. Here's what went down according to those on hand:

  • The Jets were in shells again with a rare afternoon start time and for a longer practice;
  • Among key players not practicing were Quinnen Williams, Kris Boyd, John Simpson, Xavier Gipson and Malachi Moore. Each of these should be back within the next week or so although Moore is the only one in line to play in the first preseason game;
  • Mason Taylor also did not practice;
  • In the first team session, Breece Hall had two nice runs, one behind a Joe Tippmann block and another on a good cutback. Braelon Allen also had a nice run and Justin Fields connected with Garrett Wilson for a first down;
  • Wilson then dropped a Fields pass thrown slightly behind him with Sauce Gardner in close proximity;
  • Isaiah Davis had a good run on the third unit;
  • Fields connected on a deep bomb to Hall, although it was a question as to whether it was a catch as he bobbled it near the sideline;
  • Gardner was a standout on defense with multiple pass breakups working against Wilson, and Stephens also played well;
  • In red zone work, Fields threw a touchdown to Stone Smartt, making the most of a chance for some first team reps with Taylor out. Fields almost got another touchdown throw to Allen Lazard with Deuce Carter in coverage but that one was ruled out of bounds; and
  • Fields ended up just 4-for-16 passing, with a few overthrows and the Wilson drop.

Note: The Jets are back in pads tomorrow, and back to a morning start time. Among other things, they will be working on being backed up and heavy packages.
