Jets Training Camp Recap - 8/1/22

The Jets held another camp practice of 2022 today with media on hand, so here's what went down based on reports from those in attendance:

  • The Jets were in full pads for the first time;
  • Tevin Coleman, who is on the NFI list due to an illness, was rehabbing along with Jeremy Ruckert on the side field;
  • George Fant continued to sit out team drills, but Kwon Alexander took part for the first time;
  • Team periods got underway with a nice cutback run by Breece Hall;
  • Zach Wilson then rolled out and connected on a 70-yard touchdown bomb to Elijah Moore, who beat DJ Reed;
  • Chuma Edoga and Conor McDermott continue to split first team reps at left tackle. McDermott was badly beaten on a Carl Lawson sack;
  • Wilson connected on a side-arm throw to Tyler Conklin, but then was sacked by Tim Ward, who beat Mekhi Becton;
  • Moore made another good catch, this time from Joe Flacco over by the sideline;
  • Flacco was then almost intercepted by Jason Pinnock;
  • Javelin Guidry had a nice hit on Hall to blow up a screen pass;
  • UDFA receiver Irvin Charles had a nice face mask on Pinnock after catching a Flacco pass over the middle;
  • The first team offense went three and out on a drive-the-field drill, with Lawson beating Becton for a sack;
  • Sheldon Rankins and Jacob Martin also had pressure on Wilson;
  • Max Mitchell limped off with an injury;
  • Alexander had a good hit on Ty Johnson at the goal line;
  • Flacco led the second team on a touchdown drive with Jeff Smith scoring on a reception;
  • Mike White drove the Jets down to the five with a sideline connection to Denzel Mims. The drive stalled inside the 10 after Alexander stuffed another run and Jonathan Marshall had a fourth down sack;
  • The first team offense went three-and-out again on their final series. Wilson couldn't hit Moore deep and then underthrew a short pass to Hall; and
  • Greg Zuerlein took the lead in the kicking competition as he made all four kicks but Eddy Pineiro missed from 28 and 32 yards.

The Jets will practice again tomorrow morning.
