Jets Training Camp Recap - 8/2/22

The Jets held another camp practice of 2022 today with media on hand, so here's what went down based on reports from those in attendance:

  • The Jets were in full pads for the second day in a row;
  • George Fant saw action in the 11-on-11 period for the first time but Ace Carter and Vinny Curry did not practice;
  • Denzel Mims was working with the special teams unit in drills;
  • Elijah Moore caught two passes from Zach Wilson and a one-hander from Joe Flacco in the first 7-on-7 period. Wilson started 3-for-4 with the other catch by Garrett Wilson;
  • Sauce Gardner had a good play in coverage against Tarik Black;
  • Breece Hall made a good adjustment on a downfield catch from Mike White;
  • Deuce Carter had a good pass breakup;
  • Jermaine Johnson had back-to-back good reps in DL/OL drills;
  • Carl Lawson beat Conor McDermott for a sack in the first 11-on-11 period;
  • Garrett Wilson had a sliding catch from Flacco;
  • Justin Hardee had a big hit on Irvin Charles;
  • Wilson hit Corey Davis on a sideline route and then Garrett Wilson over the middle, but then Deuce Carter nearly intercepted him and an open CJ Uzomah dropped an inaccurate short pass;
  • Flacco took off and ran for a first down;
  • White connected with Mims in traffic and Black over at the sideline;
  • Wilson threw a nice pass from his own end zone to Braxton Berrios at the sideline, then hit Conklin for a big catch and run;
  • White hit Keshunn Abram downfield for a nice gain over the defense;
  • Gardner almost had a sack as the offensive line weren't expecting the blitz, then did a good job on an incompletion to Moore;
  • Lawson got good pressure on Wilson as he bull rushed inside and ran over Laken Tomlinson;
  • Bradlee Anae did a solid job against the run;
  • White hit Mims over the middle for a 60-yard touchdown;
  • Hall had some success finding holes in the running game; and
  • The first team offense drove down to the five yard line on their final series but then DJ Reed made a good play in coverage and Jabari Zuniga beat Mekhi Becton, who otherwise had a good day, for a sack.

The Jets will practice again tomorrow morning.
