Keep or Dump: Exclusive Rights Free Agents (Hector, Newman and Charles)

In between now and the start of the new league year, we're going to look at each of the Jets' pending free agents to decide whether or not the Jets should bring them back. We continue today with the Jets exclusive rights free agents, Bruce Hector, Xavier Newman and Irv Charles.

Let's begin with Hector, whose free agent status is actually unclear. The Jets official site at one point listed him as a restricted free agent, but most other sites list him as an ERFA and he does seem to only have two accrued seasons.

Hector seems to have taken over from Tanzel Smart as a guy who can sit on the practice squad and then be called up when there are injuries.

He had three tackles for loss including a sack in six games in 2024, so should the Jets try and bring him back?

Let's move on to Newman:

The Jets have kept Newman around since he was called up from the practice squad and ended up playing a key role as an emergency center in an overtime win over the Giants.

The youngster still seems to be progressing, so should the Jets try and bring him back?

UPDATE: We already have our answer as he has been tendered as an exclusive rights free agent.

Finally, let's end with Charles:

The man once dubbed a special teams "wolf" has lived up to that moniker with some impact contributions on special teams.

Charles hasn't contributed much as a wide receiver but his special teams contributions are undeniable, so should the Jets try and bring him back?

UPDATE: We already have our answer as he has been tendered as an exclusive rights free agent.
