Keep or Dump: RFAs and ERFAs

We’ve been looking at this year’s pending free agents to see which ones JetsFix readers would like back. Having shared the results for all unrestricted free agents yesterday, let’s quickly cover the restricted and exclusive rights free agents.

ERFAs

These have seemingly been dealt with already, as the Jets opted to bring back Jowon Briggs and Marcelino McCrary-Ball as expected.

However, there was one other pending exclusive rights free agent they did not announce a deal for so it looks like Hendon Hooker will hit the open market.

RFAs

The Jets have three pending RFAs - Cam Jones, John Metchie III and Xavier Newman. Of the three, Metchie would seem the most likely to get a tender but it’s already being reported that he will not. Newman has been useful depth for the past few years but it’s uncertain as to whether he will return, as we’ve been told there were some off-field reasons that might make his departure more likely.

Finally, some sites list gunner Irv Charles as a restricted free agent but he will remain under contract. Since he stayed on the NFI list all year, his 2025 contract will have tolled.
