How the hell am I supposed to know who this is? - Rashard Davis

In an occasional feature, we're going to briefly highlight any of the lesser-known players that make an unexpected impact during camp or in the season. Today, we focus on wide receiver Rashard Davis:

What he did:

Davis is one of the newest Jets and wasn't in an NFL camp this time last year, but he has already showcased some playmaking abilities:

He showed his ability to get open downfield and snag a deep ball on this Joe Flacco bomb:

Outlook:

Davis is down near the bottom of the depth chart at wide receiver but is making the kind of early impression he'll need to if he's going to compete for a role.

One of Davis' best attributes is his ability to return punts, so the Jets might see him as a good option to retain in case Braxton Berrios either gets injured or becomes indispensable on offense due to other injuries.

However, showcasing his playmaking abilities is a good way to improve his chances so if he can continue to do this, his chances improve even further. Davis should get plenty of opportunities to play in preseason and if he can make some plays there, his chances of at least ending up on the practice squad will look good.
