New York Jets Practice Recap - 8/22/20

Media was on hand for today's practice at training camp. Here's what went down according to social media reports from those in attendance.

  • The Jets announced that they have released tight end Connor Davis and re-signed defensive back Anthony Cioffi;
  • Avery Williamson, Ryan Griffin and Daniel Brown have all been activated from the PUP list;
  • Braxton Berrios, who missed a few practices for personal reasons, was back on the field and had a couple of catches in 11-on-11's;
  • Sam Darnold threw his first interception of camp with Bless Austin picking off an underthrown fade route intended for Breshad Perriman;
  • James Morgan had a nice touchdown pass to Jehu Chesson in the corner of the end zone;
  • Frank Gore ran for a touchdown up the middle;
  • Ashtyn Davis showcased some aggressive hitting;
  • Lawrence Cager came down with a spectacular catch from Mike White in the end zone, although there were questions over whether he came down inbounds;
  • Darnold bounced back later with touchdowns on a long throw to Chris Herndon at the back of the end zone and a short pass to Jamison Crowder but the first team defense had a good day overall;
  • Trevon Wesco also had a touchdown on a short pass in team drills;
  • Jeff Smith continued to produce with the first unit, beating Austin on an out route for a catch from Darnold;
  • Mike White had a good day, connecting twice with Josh Malone and once with Lamichal Perine and then finding Cager on another high pass in the end zone; and
  • Patrick Onwuasor walked off gingerly after suffering a non-contact injury.
