Open thread: CFP National Championship Game

Coming up at 8:00 p.m. ET, Alabama faces Clemson in the national championship game for college football, so here's your open thread to discuss the events arising.

The Jets will no doubt be paying close attention having drafted the likes of ArDarius Stewart and Dee Milliner from Alabama and Jordan Leggett, Charone Peake and Tajh Boyd from Clemson over the past several years.

This year's draft prospects include Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and offensive tackle Jonah Williams, who are currently considered potential top five picks, so could be possibilities for the Jets with their #3 overall pick.

There's plenty more draftable talent, though, including several potential first rounders. Defensive linemen Clelin Ferrell and Christian Wilkins are Clemson's best prospects, along with another defensive lineman, Dexter Lawrence who won't be playing because he's suspended. Alabama has multiple guys who could elevate themselves to potential first round status, but safety Deionte Thompson and defensive lineman Raekwon Davis are considered the most likely first rounders at the moment.

Some other later round talent to look out for:

  • Clemson OT Mitch Hyatt;
  • Clemson DE Austin Bryant;
  • Clemson ILB Kendall Joseph;
  • Clemson CB Trayvon Mullen;
  • Clemson ILB Tre Lamar;
  • Alabama RB Josh Jacobs;
  • Alabama EDGE Anfernee Jennings;
  • Alabama RB Damien Harris;
  • Alabama TE Irv Smith Jr.;
  • Alabama OL Ross Pierschbacher;
  • Alabama LB Mack Wilson; and
  • Alabama DL Isaiah Buggs.

Finally, Quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama are also worth watching because, even though they won't be in this draft, they're both considered potential future number one picks.

Let us know who impresses you (or who you're unimpressed by) in the comments throughout the game.
