Roster News: WRs Hansen and McBride released...but the names of the other cuts have not been

The deadline has passed now but, as Rich Cimini from ESPN New York notes on twitter, that doesn't mean the Jets are going to release the names of who they've cut until they have to. We'll keep you posted until they announce, though.

One name that did leak out (via Manish Mehta of NY Daily News) was 2017 fourth-round pick Chad Hansen, who couldn't build on a strong spring after a quiet rookie season. That leaves four cuts to go.

UPDATE: Mehta also reports that the Jets released Tre McBride. This is mildly surprising but if the Jets' top four receivers were healthy, a sixth wide receiver would have been restricted to special teams work or inactive most of the time anyway. Charone Peake, who most people expected to be released, is a primary gunner on the special teams unit, so perhaps that keeps him on the 53 for now.

Maybe they will cut Peake, which would mean they're keeping four tight ends, three of whom can play in the slot. But it also ensures that one of our guys in yellow is going to remain on the 53 for now, unless they cut down to less than 53 players.

Here's how things are looking right now:

Color coding is as follows:

Green - Players we assume are locks to be on the 53

Yellow - Players who we assume will be cut

Red - Players who have been confirmed as cut or waived/injured

Pink - Players who are suspended on opening day

Blue - PUP list (Rontez Miles is the only eligible player)
