Roster News: Grupe poached, Pritchett re-signed, Johnson released

The Jets have made an early move to kick off Pats week:

We've signed WR Jamaal Prichett to the practice squad and released WR Tyler Johnson

— New York Jets (@nyjets) October 13, 2026

It was expected that Pritchett would be back after Tim Patrick took his spot on the 53, and Johnson is a logical player to be considered surplus to requirements with Adonai Mitchell and Omar Cooper both on the way back.

The Jets have also lost their insurance policy at the kicker position, so it looks like the role will belong to Jason Sanders for the foreseeable future:

The #Rams are moving on from K Harrison Mevis, per me and @MikeGarafolo, as coach Sean McVay authors a special teams shakeup. They are signing Blake Grupe off the #Jets practice squad. https://t.co/6qvMnb0W9b

Perhaps the Jets will bring Johnson back tomorrow.
