Roster News: Jets activate Robert Nelson, sign two to practice squad

The Jets announced the corresponding move to the Travaris Cadet release that we covered earlier:

Nelson is obviously needed because of Xavier Coleman's shoulder injury. He isn't very big, but he's a good athlete, having run a 4.46 at his pro day.

The practice squad additions are interesting. They released Harold Jones-Quartey after less than a week and added running back Akeem Judd and linebacker Jeremy Cash.

Judd was a teammate of Jets rookie Derrick Jones at Ole Miss, where he rushed for 830 yards and six scores last year, with three 100 yard rushing performances in the last four games of the season. He's a 24-year old rookie and busted for a 40-yard run with the Titans in preseason, although his other 10 carries netted just 15 yards.

Cash was an excellent player at Duke, although he was a hybrid safety and has struggled to find a position at the NFL level. He saw action with the Panthers on special teams only last year but did have some good production with six tackles.

We'll share an in-depth scouting report on Nelson in due course.
