Roster News: Jets add WR Thompson, release Ubosi

Having waived Jordan Leggett last night, the Jets had a roster spot to fill as they took the field for the first day of OTAs:

The 30-year old Thompson has been in the league since 2012 and has spent time on several NFL teams, including with Adam Gase and Dowell Loggains on the 2015-16 Bears.

He's started 22 games in his career and caught 94 passes, with his best season being 2017 as he caught 38 passes for 555 yards and three TDs while splitting time with the Bears and Bills. He caught 17 passes last year, mostly with Dallas.

Thompson, who ran a 4.31 in the 40-yard dash at UCF's 2012 Pro day, has some experience as a kickoff returner, averaging just under 25 yards per return in his career.

UPDATE: The Jets also announced that rookie WR Xavier Ubosi has been waived. He had only been with the team for about a week. The move leaves the Jets with an open roster spot again.
