Roster News: Jets cut Ammendola, add four to active roster

The Jets have announced their roster moves ahead of Sunday:

The Ammendola cut, first reported by Jeané Coakley of SNY, means that Kessman must have won the open competition this week. He'll get his shot at showing he's worthy of the job over the next six games. Kessman, who made 72% of his field goals at Pitt, has never attempted an NFL field goal in regular season or preseason action.

Trevon Wesco not going to IR suggests the Jets believe he'll miss fewer than three games, so Brown's elevation may only be temporary, especially with Tyler Kroft perhaps due back soon.

Adding Blair and Walter was an obvious move after their success last week. The Jets have Keelan Cole and Mike White still on Covid-19 reserve, enabling them to elevate a player such as Blair who already had the maximum two standard elevations.

Disappointingly, Bryce Huff, who was expected back for the Houston game, remains on injured reserve.

The Jets had an open spot on their roster so these moves will mean they need to name seven inactive players on Sunday, of whom one can be an offensive lineman.
