Despite an electrifying debut, Gipson has been a disappointment in the return role, so most fans will view him as an acceptance sacrifice if his release ushers in a brand new era of accountability.

What now though? Jamaal Pritchett could get the call as the punt returner and kickoff return candidates include Isaiah Davis, Arian Smith and Keilan Robinson.
