Roster News: Jets elevate James, Charles

The Jets have made their roster moves ahead of the Denver game:

James provides essential depth in the secondary with DJ Reed out. It still seems most likely that Bryce Hall will start on the outside, but we'll find out what the plan is on Sunday. While with the team in preseason, James mostly played in the slot.

Charles, who was inactive the last two times he was added to the roster on gameday, was obviously elevated to serve as a primary punt gunner with Brandin Echols out and Hall needed on defense. James has done this in the past too, though.

The Jets will need to name seven inactive players, none of whom can be an offensive lineman. This could lead to someone like Will McDonald or Carl Lawson being inactive again - or potentially Mecole Hardman for the first time.
