Roster News: Jets re-sign Xavier Cooper to one-year deal

Having allowed him to test the free agent market, the Jets have re-signed another one of their free agents to bolster their veteran depth:

The 26-year old Cooper, a former third round pick, arrived halfway through the season and played in eight games as a back-up defensive lineman. He registered 10 tackles, a sack and a pass defensed and saw him playing time increase down the stretch with Muhammad Wilkerson inactive.

His deal probably isn't for much more than the minimum salary and is unlikely to guarantee him a roster spot for 2018. As things stand, he'll be competing with the likes of Deon Simon and Claude Pelon for a role.
