Roster News: Jets sign QB Hendon Hooker to practice squad

Per sources, the Jets have brought in some more cover at the quarterback position with the addition of Hendon Hooker.

Hooker, who spent two years on the Detroit Lions while Aaron Glenn was their defensive coordinator, is a 27-year old former third round pick but has only thrown nine passes at the NFL level.

He has had a slow start to his career after missing his entire rookie season while recovering from an ACL tear in college but may still have some potential and could be a candidate to compete for a backup role if he impresses the Jets over the next few weeks.

The Jets also elevated DT Payton Page to the active roster and put Tony Adams onto IR. Page had only played a few snaps as a practice squad elevation so far this year. Dean Clark will now probably start at safety.
