Roster News: Jets sign two, place Donahue on IR

The Jets announced a couple of moves today:

Donahue injured his elbow on Sunday when he gave Paul Posluszny what many felt was a cheap shot on Jeremy Kerley's overtime punt return. Posluszny was penalized for taunting after the play, putting the Jets in range for Chandler Catanzaro's game-winning kick. It's possible Donahue could return before the season is over.

Gwacham will serve as a potential replacement for Donahue. He's a 26-year old who was a 6th round pick in 2015. He has some pretty good athletic numbers, including a 4.7 40-yard dash, and had 8 tackles and 2.5 sacks for the Saints in under 100 snaps in 2015. However, he missed most of the 2016 season due to a severely sprained ankle. He had six tackles and a sack in preseason.

Stinson should be able to take Lawrence Thomas' place in the defensive line rotation. Thomas has changed his number to #44 so can now concentrate on the fullback position. Stinson is a 27-year old former fifth-round pick who has started five games in three seasons, including two on Todd Bowles' defense in 2014. He has 26 tackles and one sack in his career but has struggled to stay healthy.

The Jets will need to make another move if they're going to activate Jalin Marshall from the suspended list. He's back at practice today, but the Jets will have a roster exemption for the first day or two.

The team also announced that Freddie Bishop, who began the season on the active roster, has been re-signed to the practice squad.

We'll provide detailed scouting reports for the new guys tomorrow.
