Roster News: Jets sign two, release two

The Jets have made a couple more moves at the bottom end of the roster:

El-Zayat, who initially went to Fordham, is an undersized receiver with a 38-inch vertical but he only ran a 4.64 at his pro day. He caught 27 passes for 360 yards and two touchdowns at Eastern Michigan last season.

Stepp is another big back with modest workout numbers and collegiate production. He played for USC, Nebraska and Western Kentucky in his career and averaged 4.8 yards per carry.

These were the corresponding cuts:

Patrick and Spencer were two of the more obvious veteran cuts. Spencer was on the practice squad all year last year but still didn't get any playing time even though the Jets used eight defensive tackles. Patrick's roster chances were basically shot once they drafted two running backs.
