Roster News: Jets to release CJ Uzomah

This move is not particularly unexpected:

Uzomah did a solid job for the Jets and was a valuable veteran presence in the locker room, but he was forced into a blocking role out of necessity and wasn't as statistically productive as he had been in the past as a result so didn't really warrant the high salary he was due to receiver.

It was obvious the Jets were going to phase Uzomah out to give Jeremy Ruckert some more reps down the stretch and then he got injured anyway. They'll now be able to put the money saved towards a more important need.
