Shockingly, the Jets opted to release all three of the players who had a bonus deadline today. Here's confirmation of the third:
The Jets are not picking up the option on LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, per source. That creates another $2 million in cap space. #nyj— Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) February 20, 2019
The Jets save about $5.5 million of cap space that they don't really need with these three moves, while eating a hole into their league-best special teams unit and their defensive line depth. This is curious to say the least. Presumably, they've got plans for how to better spend that money, so we look forward to seeing how the offseason unfolds.
