Roster News: Three head to IR as the Jets make a flurry of roster moves

The Jets have made a bunch of moves ahead of tomorrow's Seahawks game:

Head coach Adam Gase had already announced that Austin would start in place of Lamar Jackson on Sunday. Matthias Farley and Josh Andrews will presumably also get multiple starts while Davis and Van Roten are out.

Dawkins and Scott are each being elevated for the second time. If the Jets want to use them again this season, they'll need to be signed to the active roster. Dawkins played on special teams last week, but Scott didn't get on the field during his first elevation.

The promising Cager was elevated earlier in the year when the Jets had some injury issues, only to then injure his hamstring. With Denzel Mims out and Jamison Crowder questionable, Scott and Cager could get a chance to fill at wide receiver on Sunday.

Hampton played five games in a reserve safety role with the Saints last year as an undrafted rookie. He could be needed on Sunday because the Jets are without Davis and Jackson with Bradley McDougald already on injured reserve.

The Jets have a roster exemption for Mims and JT Hassell, who will need to be added to the roster next week so the team could end up sending Cager or Hampton back down after this game. However, they have five tight ends on the 53 so maybe Ross Travis gets sent down instead.
