The Jets had reportedly signed cornerback Kahlef Hailassie as an undrafted free agent, and given him the second largest amount of guarantees from all of this year's undrafted free agent signings (behind wide receiver Jason Brownlee). However, he was not among the announced signings last week and didn't attend rookie camp. We now know why:
Whether Hailassie or the Jets reneged on a previous agreement or Hailassie actually met with the Jets and failed his physical or something is unknown. However, they will be moving on without him. Derrick Langford is the only remaining undrafted free agent who can play cornerback but they did of course draft the versatile Jarrick Bernard-Converse.
