Stat of the week: Making plays on the ball

Between them, Matt Stafford and Matt Cassel completed 29 of 52 passes in last night's game. Of the 23 passes that were not completed, the Jets were credited with 12 passes defensed, including five interceptions. That doesn't even include the near interception by Parry Nickerson, where he obviously got his hands on the ball and almost made an incredible play.

Ultimately, the Jets made a play on over half of the Lions passes that were not completed.

Darron Lee and Jamal Adams combined for six passes defensed all of last year. They had six passes defensed between them (including three interceptions) last night alone.

In fact, the Jets' entire team averaged fewer than four passes defensed per game last season.
