Training Camp Practice Recap - 7/30/26

Training camp continued today with media on hand for the Jets' practice. Here's what went down according to those on hand:

  • Players not in action included D'Angelo Ponds, who strained his calf yesterday;
  • In 11-on-11 action to start, Geno Smith had a downfield connection to AD Mitchell and Braelon Allen had a nice gain;
  • On defense David Bailey beat Armand Membou and Breece Hall for a sack on a bull rush, Jowon Briggs blew up a short pass and Kingsley Enagbare had a couple of good plays including a pressure;
  • Cade Klubnik threw it away under pressure on his first play but then hit Mason Taylor down the field;
  • DT Sheffield had a leaping catch on a long pass downfield with the reserves;
  • On his next turn, Smith again hit Mitchell downfield on a timing route but then Bailey blew up an end around to Omar Cooper and Enagbare beat Membou for another sack;
  • Hall also had a good gain on a run between the tackles;
  • Klubnik converted a downfield throw to Arian Smith in traffic;
  • Brady Cook hit Jamaal Pritchett for a decent gain down the field;
  • Bailey had another sack of Smith and Malachi Moore made a play against the run;
  • In 7-on-7, Smith connected with Garrett Wilson downfield on a back shoulder throw against Brandon Stephens;
  • Klubnik had a good throw dropped by Kenyon Sadiq but bounced back with another throw to Pritchett and a completion to Jeremy Ruckert;
  • Bailey almost blew up a run in the backfield and then was unblocked as he recorded his third sack;
  • Dane Belton blew up a short pass;
  • Sadiq caught a pass for a nice gain down the sideline from Bailey Zappe;
  • Overall, Smith was 6-for-8 and Klubnik was 9-of-11; and
  • Both kickers made three of three field goals, albeit from within 40 yards. They then kicked three more each from further away but Jason Sanders missed one of them, from 48 yards.
