Training Camp Practice Recap - 8/1/26

Training camp continued today with media on hand for the Jets' practice. Here's what went down according to those on hand:

  • Everyone was still not in pads, but the team is off tomorrow and then will have a padded practice on Monday;
  • Fans were in attendance for the first time;
  • Geno Smith had a good day as he was 11-for-11 in 11-on-11 action, with four touchdowns;
  • Garrett Wilson caught six of the 11, with a touchdown, while Adonai Mitchell added two touchdowns and Kenyon Sadiq also had one;
  • One of Mitchell's touchdowns saw him beat Brandon Stephens on a 25-yarder;
  • Breece Hall also had a couple of nice runs;
  • Cade Klubnik started off 4-for-4 including completions to Isaiah Davis and Mason Taylor;
  • However, he ended up 6-of-10 as he was intercepted by Qwan'tez Stiggers and was then intercepted again later in 7-on-7's by Marcelino McCrary-Ball;
  • Brady Cook had a solid day, which included a touchdown throw to UDFA DT Sheffield;
  • Jordan Clark had a good pass break-up;
  • Armand Membou did a much better job of keeping David Bailey quiet than in the last practice, with Bailey jumping offside once; and
  • The kickers made 13 of 15 between them with both misses hitting the upright. Cade York missed from 52 and Jason Sanders missed from 55 but Sanders won the day as he made seven of eight, including one from over 60.

There was also one roster move today:

Grimes was competing with Thomas Hennessy for the long snapper role but Hennessy has clearly held onto the job.

Barten is an undrafted rookie who is 6'5" and 316 pounds and was with the Giants until recently. He had 24 tackles, two passes defensed and a sack at Wisconsin last year.
